How it all Started!
The Handmade Expo is a mother and daughter team with Micky & Liesa (twin sisters) and mother Miriam. The Expo started out for a passion for both markets and handmade. Having travelled around South East Queensland to the different markets, we realised that there was nothing like that in Ipswich. Of course, there are the regular weekly trash and treasure markets but to have a fully handmade only market turned from a passion into a dream and then reality.
The Handmade Expo started at the Ipswich Showgrounds, an indoor monthly market with the first one being held on Saturday 16th August 2008. After being there for 1 year we decided that it was time to expand and we weren't able to do that at the showgrounds. So off to the Ipswich Turf Club at Bundamba we ventured in 2009 and have never looked back.

Where we are Now!
Now coming into the markets 4th year, the market is bigger and stronger than ever. We never thought that the community, stallholders and handmadies would embrace the Expo as much as what they have and now we have an established, high quality, handmade market that we can be proud of.
The Handmade Expo has travelled a number of times, Goondiwindi, Warwick, Jondaryan Woolsheds, Forest Hill and Laidley. We would love to keep taking the market to different places and feel that each separate community embraces a new annual event with open arms. We will continue to travel with the Expo, as it means more exposure for our Ipswich market but also our stallholders.
The market currently holds up to and some months over 100 stallholders. Closer to Christmas we hold up to 150 stallholders. The venue can take more stallholders if the need ever arose, so we love being at the Ipswich Turf Club. It's so open and fresh and easily accessible by prams, wheelchairs and our stallholders to easily load and unload their wares.
